Description
This lovely Blue Morpho was photographed at the Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus, Ohio. I chose to present this image in black an white in order to bring attention to the detail of the butterfly itself, and remove any distractions of color in the surroundings. This would be a beautiful and elegant art addition for your home or office.
The underside of the Blue Morpho butterfly has spots that resemble eyes. This characteristic allows the butterfly to blend in with its environment. The brown underside with the spots often times make people think that this side is a completely different butterfly, rather then the same butterfly as the iridescent blue side. That confusion it creates is a survival technique to stay unharmed from predators. They are one of the largest butterflies in the world, with a wingspan of between 5 to 8 inches.
