Description
This is Eli's barn. Eli was my great-grandfather. Around 1930 he sold the family farm to his grandson, and moved to a smaller house several miles away. A little barn was behind the house, where he kept his horse and buggy. My mother has told me stories of how this amazing man would hitch up his horse and buggy and drive the distance out to the family farm, and his son's farm which was close by, and be there by sunrise. He would occasionally bring a few groceries and help out where he could. And he accomplished all this while in his seventies and enduring a wooden leg. My mother has many fond memories of her grandpa Eli.
This image is the little barn behind the house, where he kept his horse and buggy. It is obviously long abandoned, but after hearing the stories about this man, I can almost see him standing there. I'm grateful to have found this little barn in Sonora, Ohio, and captured this part of my heritage. I hope you enjoy the nostalgia.
