Description
As the tide comes in, it brings gifts to those who will reach down and accept the offerings. This beautiful shell is a reminder that gifts can take many forms; we only need to open our eyes to see them. I purposely used the tilt of the shore line to symbolize the action of reaching down, giving, and pouring out the gifts of the sea.
This image was captured on Edisto Island, one of South Carolina's Sea Islands. The island, town, and Edisto River are named after the historic Edistow people, a Native American sub-tribe of the Cusabo Indians, who inhabited the island as well as nearby mainland areas.
