Description
While driving along a country road in Muskingum County, Ohio, I ran across the old forgotten remains of the town of High Hill. There are three buildings standing, giving just a glimpse of days gone by. High Hill was named for the lofty elevation of the town site. A post office called High Hill was established in 1847, and remained in operation until 1901. Besides the post office, High Hill had an Odd Fellows hall and two country stores. This single wall is still standing which once was part of a small storage room connecting two of the buildings. The empty doorway is merely an invitation to the past. The color version of this image and an image of one of the other buildings are also available in my gallery.
