A beautiful swallowtail butterfly is resting on a flower in the summer garden. Soft sunlight graces it's wings as it gathers nectar before continuing on. I captured this image at the Franklin Park Conservatory, in Columbus, Ohio. Digital textures were added to my original photo to create the fine art painted finish.
The Tiger Swallowtail is a beautiful, large butterfly, usually in the range of 3.5"-5.5", easily identified by its black "tiger stripes". Male Eastern Tiger Swallowtails are always yellow, while females may be yellow or black. Females have a splash of iridescent blue wash on their tales, while males do not.
