A monarch butterfly is visiting a beautiful white zinnia in my garden for a drink of nectar - pure magic! This reminded me of a beautiful lady, bathing in a white tub in the open air, with warm, golden sunlight surrounding her. I am always thrilled when these lovely creatures stop in my garden as they make their migration. This image was captured in Columbus, Ohio, and digitally edited to give it my special touch! The black and white version, and another color version of this image, are also available in my gallery.
The eastern North American monarch population is notable for its annual southward late-summer/autumn migration from the United States and southern Canada to Mexico. During the fall migration, monarchs cover thousands of miles, with a corresponding multi-generational return north.
