Description
This original wildlife art by Sharon Mcconnell features a red-morphed Eastern screech owl (Megascops Casio) perched and waiting for nightfall. Focused and patient, his red morph feathers blend in with the rich autumn colors of the woodlands surrounding him.
This species is relatively common in Eastern North America, and is native to most wooded environments of its distribution. More so than any other owl in its range, it has adapted well to manmade development, although it frequently avoids detection due to its nocturnal habits. Photographed in central Ohio, USA. Digital enhancements were added to achieve the fine art painterly effect.
