Skunks are mammals known for their ability to spray a liquid with a strong odor. Different species of skunk vary in appearance from black-and-white to brown or cream colored, but all have warning coloration.
This hefty skunk was photographed in Ohio by Sharon McConnell.

Very adorable capture, Sharon. They are cute, I'll give them that! However, when my old Coonhound met up with one in the back yard a couple of years ago, it was anything but cute, as he ran into the house and jumped all over the furniture and ran up and down the stairs. I see them a lot when Ole Mose and I are out on our nightly walk. I make it a point of giving them wide birth and hope we don't get another visitor to the back yard when the dog is out!
